I discovered Linux in the days when Windows 3.1 was, if not the state of the art, at least still massively the dominant MS-GUI system. The moment I had a realistic choice, I went for it. Three months of downloading Slackware piecemeal over a 33.6 connection before I could install it. Yipes!
