Does a CPU lose it’s OC ability after a few years? (kind of long, sorry)
Anyways, she tells me that it has just been ‘crashing’ for the past 2 weeks for no reason at all. I was sitting with her today and I saw it happen… BSOD… then a reboot while playing solitare no less. I have tried running AVG free, AVG paid version, Spybot search and destroy, and Microsoft Security Essentials (Installed each one seperately and removed the other of course). None of them found anything wrong.
I have also ran Prime 95 overnight and just got done running OCCT and passed both. I can tell you that the components I listed have been running at these speeds just fine for almost 2 years. (Well until now).
Do things just sort of ‘get tired’ and lose their OC stability? Is there anything else I should look at?
I have one more thing to throw into the mix. This hard drive originally had Windows XP on it when XP was cool, then upgraded to Vista when it came out, now upgraded to W7. I hear this might be bad, Is it? maybe time for a format and a clean install?
